Old Car City - Georgia - Section 3

August 26, 2024  •  Leave a Comment

Old Car City in White, GA is said to be the largest classic car junkyard in the world with over 4,400 vehicles on 34 acres with 6 miles of trails.  I had heard of this place several years ago and had set it on the horizon to visit when I was in the area.  I spent about 4 hours there, took a few hundred photos but could have taken twice that many again.  A good majority of the cars and trucks are buried under years of pine needles in this heavily forested area.  But I was able to get many full size vehicle shots along with a bunch of close-ups, manufactures logos, and design elements, tail fins, front bumpers and grills and best of all, all the multi-colored rust from years of corrosion.

The images themselves turned out to be more in the abstract, which I was ok with, because now it can be a challenge to look at some of the closeup door handles and windows and lines and styling of the cars along with the headlights and side panels and body styles to see if you can figure out what all these cars are. If you're real good and you know it's a Ford, then what model and how about what year?  I would not know that from many of the photos I took and the way I cropped and presented them, but there are those people who love cars and know cars and they would probably do very well.
