Back To Thurmond

This is a 2nd trip for me to Thurmond, WV to visit this old remote (once major thoroughfare) city situated in the New River Gorge right on the banks of the New River.  This is from the days when coal was king in West Virginia.  While coal is still one of the major exports from the WV coal mines, it is no longer delivered by the old steam engines.  Thurmond, built back at the height of those days and busy times, now lies all but forgotten except for those who still want to visit and remember these historical days. Thurmond was very unique in that the main city was build literally only feet away from the busy railroad tracks themselves, as you will see.
